2010: Joe Williamson

2010: Joe Williamson
Sound of 2010.
2010 was a year of the old and the new. Old projects released records or played gigs or both, less old bands kept on and some interesting new projects and collaboarations were started. Here are some highlights…
The Tobias Delius 4tet (Tobias Delius – tenor saxophone, Tristan Honsinger - cello, Han Bennink - drums) released Luftlucht, our first record in nearly 10 years. Weird Weapons (Olaf Rupp – acoustic guitar and Tony Buck - drums ) also recorded again, to be released in 2011. Booklet (Tobias Delius – tenor saxophone and Steve Heather - drums) also recorded, finally, after many years as a band.
Duck Baker - guitar and Alex Ward – clarinet, managed to make it all the way from the UK to play and record Duck’s music at the Glenn Miller Cafe. W.E.S.S (Sture Ericsson-saxophone, David Stackenäs - guitar, Raymond Strid - drums) also played and are planning a recording this january.
The Green Valley Players (Fredrik Ljunqvist – sax, clarinet, Mattias Ståhl - vibes and Christopher Cantillo - drums), a band that while not old is not new. But, we have made a record, just finished this month.
In the new category is The Ägg - a 9 piece (3 guitars , 3 electric bass and 3 drums). To save ink the line-up will remain a secret. We haven’t done a gig or recorded, but we will.
Magnus Broo’s Swedish Wood (Magnus, Torbjörn Zetterberg and Håkon Mjåset Johansen) has been released on Moserobie.
Amongst the new projects is a trio with Klas Nevrin and Jon Fält.
A new band, as yet with no name, is a trio with Magda Mayas, and Okkyung Lee.
And last but not least are the new collaborations with Lisa Ullén and Katt Hernandez and the daytime jams with Fredrik Ljungqvist and with David Stackenäs.
