More dawns than I have seen in many years. Black skies eroded by lapping tides of light gently tearing at the sky.

2011 was a year of changes, a year of re-evaluation and rejuvenation, the end of a five-year block of life. The year took the shape of a gently rising wave of curiosity and enjoyment with the simplest elements of life and creativity.

Two new family members arrived – Nacht in January and Frances in June. Amazing journeys all around my home state for Site Listening, through the Styrian kitchen (via the presentation of my work Monolith with the most-fine Werner Dafeldecker), wonderful wanders under the Thames whilst staying in the Isle Of Dogs. Completing The Peregrine, my humble homage to J.A Baker’s life-changing book. Starting a range of new projects including Lonely Women’s Club (a new minimalist organ project) and a duet Slow Walkers with Grouper focused on the zombie as an inspirational cultural phenomena. Some very enjoyable personal writing projects including A Young Person’s Guide To Hustling In Music And The Arts, celebrating some mediations on 15 years as a freelance artist.

Via Room40 and Someone Good, presented a bunch of stellar shows and festivals (Open Frame, The Thing, Mike Cooper, Pimmon, Marina Rosenfeld, Minamo, Robert Henke, Tony Conrad, and more, all gold!), released some amazing editions (Scott Morrison, Janek Schaefer, Reinhold Freidl, John Chantler, Stina, Chihei Hatakeyama, Steinbruchel) and enjoyed some wonderful food with friends from across the lands. To cap things off I redesigned my studio – a nice close to an otherwise excellent year.
