Had good times with music in 2014 as well. Performing, recording, producing, booking, interviewing, and listening to a large number of musicians made it a year of magic moments. But, looking back what really stood out was working with three incredible female vocal artists:

Stine Janvin Motland - we recorded her "In Labour" album in 2013, but released it this year on my Pica Disk label. Stine is a world-class vocal performer, and the situations and challenges she endured making the album were incredible brave. Who else has the guts to scream against the deafening roar of 35 crazy barking dogs for half an hour? Most metal singers I know wouldn't have the balls.

Runhild Gammelsæter - finished the commissioned collaboration album "Quantum Entanglement" for Utech Records, and it was a blast. Runhild comes from metal, and is known for her wolf-like growls, but for our record she took that voice to new places. My bombastic statement that I would only be using piano sounds for the album should have made her head for the door, but she took the challenge head-on and came up with fantastic stuff that I'm sure will surprise her fans.

Jenny Hval - I spent the last half of the year producing her new record, and making a pop album was a whole new ballgame for me, but extremely fulfilling. I'm sure pop music isn't usually made like we did on this album, but then again Jenny is in a class of her own. We're in the middle of finishing the mixes as I write this, so the impact of it will have to wait until my 2015 round-up. Maybe they'll hang me, who knows.

Thanks Stine, Runhild and Jenny.
